The Fig Tree House

Almost like camping, but in a tree

This tree house, built in a giant wild fig tree, can accommodate 4 – 6 guests at a time. You will sleep high up in the canopy of this forest giant open to the elements – yet more protected.

All amenities are provided – ablutions, hot shower, cooking facilities, beds with vinyl covered mattresses– in the heart of the Lowveld bush where the “civilized” world seems far away and you are serenaded to sleep by night jars and jackal, warm your shins around a log fire, and escape to a place of sanity, peace and tranquility.

The facility is self-catering. No bedding or electricity is provided however guests with no other option can rent bedding sets at an additional fee. It is recommended that you bring your own mosquito net (hooks are provided above the beds)

Things to do on the farm

In addition to the spectacular views on the farm there are more than a 100 tree species and for the avid bird watchers there are more than 300 bird species to be found.

If you are keen to go on a day tris there are a few special places nearby.

To ensure a braai-to-remember, National Park Butchers in Kaapmuiden is a quick 10km drive from the farm. This legendary butchery has been featured on television and is renowned for its Babalas sausages (very spicy) and exquisite steaks, boerewors and biltong. We strongly recommend them.
